Have you ever had a moment where things just come together? Well here it is!
In 2004, I had an AMAZING opportunity to work with the Learn Zillion Dream Team (whoo-hoo!) It was an exciting and scary experience. For a person like me who enjoys technology, I had a wonderful time. It was with my time with Learn Zillion that I was introduced to Google Docs. I was super excited! I came back and told my team, "We've got to do this!" and I also shared my vision to become a "Paperless" classroom. I also thought it would be a great opportunity for our team. So in the Fall of 2014, I created a Google Drive for our Red Team to increase communication and document materials for our students. In our drive, we shared Science curriculum, templates like our Daily Sheets between the team. I thought it couldn't get any better, but... Here it is! For the 2015 school year, our school has officially become a Google for Education, utilizing Google Classroom (shout out to Mrs. Fusco!) I've been thinking about ways to expand on the tools and technology. There are always many more opportunities to learn and experiment . One way that I've tried to expand on utilizing the tools is by uploading "how-to videos." In our Red Team meetings with service providers, there was specific information that we needed to share about the health needs of our students. I thought it would be a great idea to record it and post it as a video instead of sharing as solely notes. So we recorded a video and uploaded it on our Red Team drive in order to share it with other teachers. Being a visual person myself I believed this process would be helpful, especially for a busy teacher on the go! Looking forward to expanding and growing this year!

Moving forward seems like an easy task, but sometimes its NOT that easy. Part of the process is looking back. Looking back not with regret, but with a sense of reflection. Now that I am in my 7th year of teaching, there are some things that have worked, and worked well and there are some things that I would like to improve upon.
I have noticed that many of my students struggle with some of the basic skills, so this year we are going BTB or "Back to Basics." This will be the first time that our class has utilized this process. I think it will be extremely successful and helpful! I'll keep you posted on how things are going. |
